How do you scale TheBOLT?

My nth time doing the 25k race course of TheBOLT, and now, I was with my safety team to check the situation of the trail when the grounds are wet and the sky is raining. The course is very challenging to everyone but FULFILLING when you cross the finishline.

My guide. TheBOLT.

Some may be experienced trail runners, while some are new to trail running. But with good preparations for this race, you will succeed.

Here are some tips that may help you on your preparatory measures:

TRAIN HARD. Forget those long runs at the moment. Go hit the track and improve your VO2MAX. Intense speedworks, intervals and tempos is the key.

STRENGTH. Once a week, hit the gym and work on your legs and core. You need to make them strong like steel.

PROPER NUTRITION. EAT MORE GREENS! With proper nutrition on your training, worry less on having injuries during your runs. Plus it is the fastest way to recover.

RIGHT GAME PLAN. Planning your game is one of the key to get it thru the finishline within the given cut-off time. Plan on what pace to use during ascents and descents. Plan your pitstops. Plan where to take selfies only. MANAGE TIME WISELY.

NUTRITION PLAN. Your game plan also needs a nutrition plan. Minimize eating a lot at aid stations but be sure to measure the calories you need every hour. I use 200calories every hour to keep me focus and won’t feel hungry on my race. Don’t bloat yourself. You can try VITARGO as your nutrition all the way, it is one of my best nutrition always on my races.

THINK AHEAD. You need to plan what to bring on your pack. You’ll never know what lies ahead. Weather always change in the mountains, come prepared. Bring and use the proper gear.

FOLLOW THE RULES. Rules, mandatory gears and race briefing are important to each runners. You need those critical informations for your own safety and to keep you self-supported at all cause. Don’t bargain what to bring. JUST FOLLOW THE RULES.

Lumatag Climb.

I tried using my trekking pole on the race course and it’s a big help on those steep ascents and descents.😉
