This is a 25-kilometer trail race running the foot of Mt. Malinao (Buhi Side). The race will take you to the brim of Lake Buhi, going up to Sto. Nino Elementary School and to the undiscovered Binancaan Falls. Prepare your trail shoes and bring your race packs as we are about to uncover THE BOLT.

The trail is used by the teachers of Sto. Nino Elementary School in Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Buhi, Camarines Sur. According to Mr. Boboy Flores, head of the school, it would take them 2-hours to hike from the downtown Buhi going up to their beloved school EVERYDAY. Just imagine that doing in 7-years. Their love and dedication to teach the kids of Brgy. Sta. Cruz is purely unconditional.
Just a brief history of The BOLT. It was late June 2019 when Fr. Gary Adversario, Parish Priest of St. Francis of Assisi Church, and I was talking on how to restore and rebuild the Church. I suggested that we organise a race. “But what kind of race?” Fr. Gary asked. I came up with an idea that we conduct a trail race, since trail running is not yet known that much here in Bicolandia and their mountain has a potential for a trail running event . The trail race will be the highlight of the Fun Run in which the whole community of Buhi and nearby town such as Nabua and Iriga will be involved in helping out the church. And the rest is history.
It took me 3-weeks to gather info about the trail and complete the race route. I was guided by Mr. Flores and Jed, a student of the said school, hiking every possible trail around the barangays of Igbac, Pagsuwayan and Sta. Cruz, connecting the path used by the teachers and the path used by the locals to bring their crops to the mainland of Buhi. The locals were happy to greet me as I run around their place. I am glad that they are looking forward about the race.
Race registration will open on August 12, 2019.
Race will be on October 5, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Buhi, Camarines Sur.
